1. Installation Considerations:
- Vanguard Vent-Free Gas Log Heaters install in any masonry or manufactured solid fuel-burning fireplace. They can also be installed in any AGA or UL certified vent-free universal firebox including the Vanguard LogMate Fireboxes. All Log Heaters with variable manual controls including remote ready are also listed to the ANSI Z21.60 Vented Log Decorative Standard which requires the GA6080 damper clamp accessory. All Vanguard Vent-Free Gas Log Heaters are offered in both propane and natural gas models. Gas connection for all models is 1/2" NPT. If a remote control wall switch or wall thermostat is installed, some wiring will be necessary.
2. Control Choices:
- Vanguard Gas Log Heaters are available in a variable manually, thermostatically or remote controlled models. All offer easy, reliable economical heating as well as a "matchless" piezo ignition system.
- · Variable Manually Controlled Models - Select the Heat Setting You Prefer.
Vanguard's Log Heaters featuring a variable manual control allow you to select the heat setting and flame height you desire by simply turning a control knob. Enjoy flames and glowing coals from both burners (where applicable) - even on the lowest setting!
- · Ember-Stat Thermostatically Controlled Models Provide Heat... Automatically.
Ember-Stat logs are the only gas logs to offer a thermostat control that gradually modulates the heat output and flame height from high to lower settings, or pilot, in order to maintain a consistent room temperature. Even at the lowest setting you enjoy glowing coals and realistic flames from two burners.

Just light Vanguard's Remote Control Ready Gas Log Heaters and operate with the manual variable controls or your choice of four remotes.
- · The Wall Mount Off / On Switch will enable you to turn your log set from pilot to on at the flip of a switch.
- · With a Wall Mount Thermostat Switch set the wall thermostat at the comfort level you desire and the log heater will automatically cycle from pilot to the heat setting selected.
- · The Hand Held On / Off Remote Control enables you to turn the log heater off or on using the hand held control.
- · The Hand Held Thermostat Remote Control allows you to operate the log heater in a manually or automatically (thermostat) controlled mode plus you can turn it off or on without ever leaving the comfort of your easy chair! Note, the log heater will always operate at the heat setting (and flame height) selected unless it is manually changed.
- 3. Style Choices:
- Vanguard Gas Log Heaters are available in a variety of styles. The ChaRealistic Char-glow and Next Generation designs feature realistic flames plus glowing coals from two burners. The Flame-Max design features generous dancing yellow flames and is available in multi-sided, dual and single burner models.
4. Size Choices:
- Vanguard Vent-Free Gas Log Heaters are available in 18", 24", 30", and 36" sizes. See chart below for proper log sizing for your fireplace.
5. Fireplace Hoods (If required):
- A fireplace hood accessory may be required to deflect heat away from your mantel shelf. Fits fireplace openings from 28" to 48" wide. Installs easily with glass doors or to the lintel of the fireplace opening. Refer to owners manual for more details.
6. Decorative Ash Bet / Control Cover Accessory Kit (Optional):
- This new accessory is not only functional but beautiful as well! The set includes five log pieces featuring realistic bark, split and charred areas plus a matching control cover. Simply move the cover when you need to use the control(s).
